Automated Bedsheet System

The Automated Bedsheet project focused on developing a functional prototype for automating the process of bedsheet deployment. The system was developed from initial concept and mechanical design through to fabrication and public demonstration, combining mechanical design, embedded control, and custom electronics development.

The Design

The prototype was developed as a complete engineering system, involving mechanical design, embedded control, and custom electronics. A custom stepper motor driver was designed and fabricated to enable motor control while reducing the overall prototype cost.

Custom Electronics Development

To reduce prototype cost and improve the accessibility of the system, a custom stepper motor driver was designed and fabricated as an alternative to commercially available driver modules.

The in-house design reduced the hardware cost by approximately 85% while maintaining the required functionality for controlling the stepper motors used in the prototype.
